“Volunteering at St John’s is a wonderfully rewarding, all of the staff who work here and the rest of the volunteers are so warm and friendly. I started my volunteer role offering complementary therapies to staff who work for St John’s and I now offer massage and/or Reiki on the ward patients and families. I cannot recommend volunteering at St John’s Hospice highly enough, it is a very special place to be part of.” — Kate, volunteer complementary therapist
Our complementary therapist offers short sessions alongside our usual nursing and medical care to help patients and their families cope emotionally, physically and mentally. It may help ease physical symptoms too, as well as helping with sleep and rest.
“As a semi-retiree I have enjoyed working as a volunteer complimentary therapist. I have honed my rather rusty skills by working on a diverse range of lovely staff, and have felt supported by a fantastic team.” — Karen, volunteer complementary therapist
