Charity Challenge

Following its success over the past 2 years, St John’s Hospice is excited to once again invite the business community to become part of our supporter family through our 50-50-500 Charity Challenge in 2025.

Here at St John’s, we are your local hospice providing palliative care and support for patients and their families throughout the South Lakes, North Lancashire and parts of North Yorkshire. We are proud to say that our patients will never be charged for the services we provide; however, this does not mean that the services are without cost.

On the 1st of April 2025, St John’s will be starting our 50-50-500 Charity Challenge where we are asking 50 local businesses or groups, over 50 consecutive days to raise a minimum of £500 each to support their hospice.

Where will the Charity Challenge take your business?

Not only has St John’s as a charity seen a huge positive impact from this initiative, so have the businesses that got involved. Teams have seen a boost in morale, it has broken down barriers within workplaces, encouraged team building in ways they haven’t done before and enables you to test out new ideas. It is the perfect opportunity to engage in Corporate Social Responsibility as well as standing out from the crowd when recruiting!

It’s up to you and your team to come up with ingenious ways to raise funds and showcase your business acumen through fundraising activities. But you won’t be on your own – throughout the Charity Challenge you’ll be supported by our fundraising team.

The Challenge in 2024…

In the initiatives first 2 years business of all shapes and sizes, with and without connection to St John’s were welcomed to the team for a season of competitive fundraising. They each had the opportunity to make a real difference and they did just that. From shows to raffles, quiz nights to cake sales with a lot of running and cycling along the way!

In 2024 once again after another brilliant 50 days of fundraising efforts, Thursday 25th July saw a special Celebration Event hosted by the St John’s team at our very own Courtyard Café. We were able to bring the challenge to a close and award prizes to those teams that had gone the extra mile in their support of the hospice.

Our Events and Corporate Fundraisers, Emma and Lily announced the fundraising total to be a HUGE️  £43,979.39, meaning that since the initiative began 2 years ago companies have raised a total of £79,422.12 which is incredible! This total will make a huge impact in the vital care and services we provide to the local community.

Hospice Hike Challenge

We have once again teamed up with Adventure Trails to host an exclusive ready-made event solely for businesses that have signed up to the Charity Challenge to help accomplish their fundraising goal. If this is not up your street there is no obligation to do the hike for your fundraising for the challenge.

Could you and your colleagues take on three Lakeland Peaks, starting at the entrance to the Lakes in Staveley and find your own way? If you think you can, why don’t you take part in the Hospice Hike Challenge!

Hospice Hike Challenge teams will compete against each other to see who can complete the 3 Lakeland Peaks in the quickest time!
