St John's Hospice has a single and important purpose: to be there when it matters most.

If you are a supporter of St John's, loyal or new - thank you for all that you do to help St John's continue to care for people at one of the most difficult times people face today and tomorrow. We know we’re here for your community because of you.

St John's Hospice provides palliative care for the community of North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire.

Our services include an inpatient ward for end-of-life care as well as pain and symptom management,  a Hospice at Home service for people who choose to spend their last time at home and need our support,  Clinical Nurse Specialists who support people with planning and pain & Symptom management, and a Respite Service for carers of loved ones who need respite time during the day or night. St John's also offers pre and post bereavement support plus other services you may not associate with a Hospice such as Social Workers and Therapists.
St John's Hospice is a charity. All of our care, compassion and support is offered free of charge to patients and their families or carers. Our care however is not cost free, around a quarter of our funding is from the government and the remaining three-quarters is raised by people like you in our local community. This is why St John's fundraises throughout the year with events, the St John's lottery, monthly giving schemes, wills and our shops ... so we can be there for one of the most difficult times in people’s lives.

It's people like you that make all the difference...

75% of what we provide 24 hours a day, 365 days a year is funded by people like you. Whether you play our weekly lottery for £1 or whether you leave a gift in your will, every penny counts, every penny helps us to provide care, compassion and support for local people and those who love them.

St John's Hospice was built by the people, for the people

Our care will always be free to those who need it, but it isn’t cost free. It costs over £5.1 million a year to run the hospice with only around a third of this amount provided by government funding.

The remaining two thirds must be raised through events, community donations, grants & legacies. St John’s Hospice has been part of the local community for over thirty years and provides vital service to patients and families all over our community. Our aim is to ensure that on the journey towards the end of life, we provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
