St John’s Hospice hits the open road again in 2026 with a brand-new fundraising cycle challenge: The Tour de St John’s! This 3-day cycle will tour the area that St John’s Hospice provides care to, across 3 counties – North Lancashire, North Yorkshire and into Cumbria and the South Lakes. Covering 159 miles the team will visit many areas of natural beauty and local landmarks.
Whether you are an experienced cyclist or just getting into the saddle, you’re welcome to join the tour team and raise vital funds for St John’s Hospice!
The Tour de St John’s will take place 15th – 17th May 2026 as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of St John’s Hospice and is an amazing opportunity to explore our wonderful local area while also supporting the vital work of St John’s.
Our team will be touring through Garstang, Trough of Bowland, Gisburn Forest, Forest of Bowland, Ingleton, Dent, Barondale, Langdale, Windermere, Arnside, Silverdale, Morecambe, Heysham, Overton and finally back to Lancaster where they will be presented with medals and well earned fizz!
The tour team will be fully supported on their challenge with a professional team from our event partners Global Adventure Challenges - including Event Manager, Bike Mechanic (also including basic spare bikes!), Support/Luggage transfer, Route Markers as well as support vehicles. The GAC crew will also carry comprehensive first aid and medical kits.
Meals, snacks and water will be provided as well as 2 nights accommodation will be a YHA destinations.
The St John's Hospice Fundraising Team will also be on hand before the challenge to help you with gathering sponsorship and helping with fundraising efforts.

You pay the non-refundable Registration Fee of £99 to Global Adventure Challenges. In addition, you are then committing to raising the minimum sponsorship of £1,295. You send the sponsorship money to St John’s Hospice as you raise it. 80% of the minimum sponsorship (£1,036) must be received by St John’s Hospice by 13th March 2026 (9 weeks before departure). Failure to do so may mean non-participation in the challenge. The balance of the challenge costs will be paid for you by the charity out of the sponsorship raised. All outstanding sponsorship must to paid to St John’s Hospice before 1st May 2026. Please do try and raise as much as you can, as every penny you raise over the minimum sponsorship will be retained by the charity too.
You pay the non-refundable Registration Fee of £99 to Global Adventure Challenges. 9 weeks before the challenge you will receive a reminder to pay the challenge balance of £652. This is in addition to the Registration Fee and is to be paid to GAC no later than 9 weeks prior to departure – 13th March 2026. At least 80% of your fundraising contribution must also be submitted to St John's Hospice by this date.
In addition to the above, we ask you raise £643 in sponsorship for St John’s Hospice and this is to be received by the charity no later than 1st May 2026.
