In 'Alive: In The Face of Death', world famous photographer Rankin sets out to explore and challenge our perceptions of death. Through his lens, the stories of those touched by death are revealed. This May, as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, the exhibition came to Lancaster.

The St. John’s Hospice Light up a Life Appeal offers a unique source of comfort to many local families as the hospice illuminates its trees with twinkling fairy lights, each one representing the life of loved ones that are missed. We would like to thank the hundreds of local families that dedicated lights on our trees and attended our services this year.
St. John's is thrilled to have the support of the Lancaster Guardian and The Visitor as they launch their year-long campaign to raise awareness and much needed funds for the hospice. The two papers are calling on their readers to get behind their "Save Our Hospice for Future Generations" campaign and are aiming to raise a whopping £1/2 million over the 12 months!

This all started when Leigh Tomlinson’s step dad, Tony Pennington, died in October 2010 at the Hospice. Leigh decided at that point that he would give back to the Hospice what they put in so he could repay their care and dedication.
Sarah & Kevin Wilde got married on 13th July 2013 at the beautiful Clarence House in Dalton in Furness. Most newlyweds will have the pleasure of opening a vast array of wedding gifts following their nuptials but not this couple. Mr & Mrs Wilde decided to selflessly request that, instead of wedding gifts, their guests made a donation to St. John’s Hospice.
Local women have raised £6754.17 at a glamorous charity race day, at Bowness-on-Windermere’s prestigious Old England Hotel and Spa. Sponsored by Yorkshire Building Society and Macdonald Hotels.

The EDF Energy sales team on site at Heysham 2 Power Station set out to encourage Heysham 2 staff to switch from their current energy provider to EDF Energy. The incentive for staff was to not only save money on their energy bills but raise money for charity in the process.
