Therapy Lead – Specialist Palliative Care Physiotherapist

This is an exciting new position that requires a creative, energetic, experienced manager to join our team. Leading a diverse range of professionals from Social Workers to the bereavement support volunteers, you will thrive on providing outstanding, holistic care for patients and their families across the Hospice and its community based services. This is a diverse role that requires innovation and adaptability alongside a clear commitment to the Hospice’s values.

Location: Lancaster
37.5 per week
Contract: Permanent
Pay: *£34,600 – £39,390 per annum (dependant on experience and NHS pension scheme eligibility)
Pension Scheme: 8% employer contribution (*NHS Pension Scheme available subject to eligibility)

Job Purpose:

  • Lead, develop and manage the therapy services for patients and families attending St John’s Hospice services, with an emphasis on symptom control, rehabilitation and improving/maintaining independence and quality of life.
  • Manage the AHPs based on the ward, as part of the ward management team and supported by the Head of Inpatient Services.
  • Act as a resource and support to hospice staff by offering specialist knowledge and skills in physiotherapy, meeting and understanding the psychosocial, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients.
  • In the future develop new community self-support services, such as Fatigue and Breathlessness and COPD programme, utilising Hospice staff to support sessions in local venues, and online.
