Jen Cavanagh: The Yummy Cupcake Company
Our wonderful relationship with Jen Cavanagh and her Yummy Cupcake Company was prompted when the patter of tiny feet led her to take time off from baking and start writing to ensure her secret recipes were preserved! Jen’s loyal Facebook supporters helped her to choose which local charities her book sale could support and every sale of A Decade of Cake gave each charity, one of which was St John’s Hospice £1.
When we heard about this we couldn’t wait to meet Jen to thank her so she very kindly joined us for coffee laden with 10 copies of her amazing book to sell in our beautiful Courtyard Café with all proceeds to St John’s. Of course they flew off our shelves, and with the additional donation of £200 from Jen’s own sales we were quickly in receipt of over £300!
Jen was so thrilled with this that earlier this week she returned with her Mum & 40 additional books for us!
Thank you Jen for sharing your talents so selflessly and giving us so much positivity and genuine support.
As a regular volunteer in our Day Hospice, Ann Livesley is always on the lookout for good quality craft materials so when she saw some beautiful red ribbon was up for grabs from @Made Better by Lands’ End she didn’t hesitate to ask on our behalf. Thank you Ann & Land’s End for donating you time & resources. (Debbie Shergold- volunteer, Joan Donald- volunteer weaving mats.)

Louise- you are an angel, on behalf of our patients and families heartfelt thanks.

It was wonderful to meet recently with the lovely Liz Robinson. Prompted by our request for gifts & prizes she quickly rallied around, filled her car with goodies and drove down to SJH from Kendal. Once we emptied her car we shared a coffee & Liz explained her passion for helping St John’s I lost my Dad at SJH in September. She shared memories of her daughters, collecting conkers at St John’s whilst they were outside with her father, Liz mentioned “We have planted some of the conkers in our garden at home.”

Skerton Liberal Club
Just before Christmas we received YET ANOTHER cheque from Skerton Liberal Club for £1,000! It is incredible that since 2012 they have donated over £5,000 to St John’s.
