Specialty Doctor In Palliative Medicine

St John’s Hospice provides a range of specialist palliative care for people living with or affected by any life-limiting illness. We are rated “outstanding” by CQC and have an excellent reputation within our community.

As a Hospice Specialty Doctor you will join an ambitious and caring medical team comprising a Medical Director, 2 Specialty Doctors, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and GP trainees. The team also enjoys the input of two Palliative Care Consultants. The post would suit either a doctor wanting to pursue a career in Palliative Medicine, or a GP wishing to develop an area of interest. You will be based mainly on the ward at St John’s Hospice and, there will be opportunities to practise across community settings as well as participating in service development.

St John’s Hospice can offer you the opportunity to work with high staff/patient ratios,  as well as good links with the local Trust, and Lancaster and Cumbria’s Universities. Lancaster is a beautiful Georgian city on the edge of the Lake District with excellent schools and good transport links to larger cities such as Manchester.

2 days per week
Contract: Permanent
Pay: Salary Scale up to £80,000 (pro rata) dependent upon experience. Some on call responsibility (non-residential)
Pension Scheme: *NHS Pension continued for eligible scheme members.
