Before you join the jump!
Here are some important FAQs about great challenge:
Are there any restrictions such as weight, age or medical conditions?
We know most people don’t like to talk about their weight, but with skydiving it is essential for both you and your instructor’s safety that we have to work within certain parameters. The maximum weight limit is 15 stone and a person may be reasonably fit for their weight.
Some people will fall outside of these limits, but are still fit and active, so if this is the case, please do call the office or Skydive Northwest to discuss your individual requirements.
It is a requirement of all jumpers that you will be required to hop on the scales prior to jumping so please don’t be offended when you are weighed on the day.
You will be required to fill in a consent form online in advance of the day, otherwise you will not be allowed to Jump.
The minimum age is 16. Anyone under 18 must have parental consent.
People who have suffered from any of the medical conditions listed on the relevant declaration form, must be certified as fit to skydive and have a BPA form signed by their GP. If you are unsure, please call Skydive Northwest for advice.
Who are Skydive Northwest?
Skydive northwest is one of the longest established skydiving centres in the UK, taking pride in providing skydiving experiences for over 40 years!
What is a tandem skydive?
A tandem skydive involves being connected to a BPA (British Parachute Association) qualified instructor through the use of a harness. The instructor will be in charge throughout the whole descent from getting ready through to landing. You require no previous experience and will be given a safety briefing on the day of the jump.
You’ll be able to experience the 120mph rush for approximately 30 seconds once you and your instructor have left the aircraft. Your instructor will then deploy your parachute, where you will experience the peace and quiet whilst gliding slowly back down to ground.
How high do I jump from?
Experience the thrill of freefall from up to 15,000 ft, reaching a speed of about 120 mph!
How much will it cost?
A £50 deposit is payable on booking. This will be refunded once the jump is complete and a minimum of £400 is paid in sponsor money.
How much must I fundraise?
At least £400 must be paid in order to jump. You can pay and fundraise any combination, as long as the minimum of £400 is paid before the day of the jump.
By raising £400 in sponsorship, you can have your deposit back which means you can do the jump for free!
When is the jump?
The date set for the jump is Sunday 6th April 2025 with a check in at the parachute centre to then receive training before waiting for the perfect weather conditions for jumping out of a plane!! If we know in advance that the weather isn’t suitable to jump, we will have a backup date, to be confirmed nearer the time.
How long will I be there for?
Skydiving is an all-day event. Due to weather conditions and how busy we are on the day, we cannot predict an accurate time for your jump. You must expect to spend the whole day with us to complete your jump.
Where is the jump?

On the Day
What shall I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothes, wrap up warm if jumping outside of the summer months, on a hot day t-shirt and trousers/shorts are fine, please wear good fitting trainers.
Can friends and family come with me?
It’s great if you can bring friends and family along to support you, but please advise them that this is an all-day event.
What facilities are there on site?
There is a small café, serving hot and cold food, however they only accept cash. Toilets are also on site which includes a disabled toilet. We also have a shower block for your use.
Can I use my own camera/go-pro?
Sorry no, the BPA rules do not allow anyone to wear any camera equipment, either on the skydiver’s helmet or anywhere else, until you have undertaken 200 skydives.
However, Skydive Northwest can video your skydive for you on the day at an extra cost. You get your own personal camera man to video your experience and give you anything from 80 to 120 high quality images. You also get to leave with it on the day just an hour after you land.
