St. John’s Hospice is looking to recruit Senior Healthcare Assistants for our specialist Hospice at Home community service. Working with our Hospice at Home team you will provide nursing care across North Lancashire and South Cumbria catchment area for people who are at the end of life. The post predominantly involves lone working in patients own homes at night.
Hours: Up to 27 hours per week available (3 night sits) and each 9 hour shift is worked 9:45pm – 6:45am. Service covers 365 days a year 7 days a week on a rota system. Includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday working.
Pay: *£10.61 – £10.94 per hour (dependant on pension scheme) and a £15 night allowance payment for every night sit worked.
Pension Scheme: 8% employer contribution (*NHS Pension Scheme available subject to eligibility)

Hospice at Home serves the whole of North Lancashire and South Lakeland, Cumbria including parts of North Yorkshire and visits may be anywhere within this catchment area. It is essential to be a car owner/driver.
As a Healthcare Assistant, working to the standards set out in the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers, you will provide overnight support for patients, with life-limiting conditions, in their own homes giving vital overnight respite for carers across the South Lakes locality. The Night Sitting Service enables patients to remain in their own homes towards the end of life.
