Registered Nurse

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient unit team, to help provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for patients and their loved ones. This could be a great opportunity for a newly or recently qualified nurse who would like join the hospice, to continue their professional development with the support of an experienced clinical team.

📍 Location: St John’s Hospice, Lancaster
⏰ Hours: 
Full and Part time positions available (worked over a 7 day rota, between 7am and 10pm)
✅ Role Type: Permanent
💰 Pay: £28,137* – £29,010 per annum pro rata. This is based on a 35 hour full time position and is dependent upon pension scheme.
💚 Pension: *NHS Pension Scheme available subject to availability criteria; or 8% employer funded St John’s Hospice Pension Scheme

Job purpose:

  • Understand the philosophy and ethos behind the care provided at St. John’s Hospice encompassing compassion and empathy in nursing practice.
  • To provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for patients and relatives.
  • To ensure that the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of patients using the service remain paramount at all times.
  • To maintain professional and ethical standards and set a high standard of holistic patient care.
  • To work as part of our multi-disciplinary team, to provide skilled nursing care for patients with palliative and end of life care needs, and their family carers.
  • To continue your own development, building on the experience and skills you already have to further your knowledge in symptom management and holistic care.
  • Cover a 24-hour nursing rota when the need arises and for professional development in the total care of patients requiring palliative care.
