Karen, one of our supporters has participated in the St John’s Hospice Moonlight Walk for a long time and 2 years ago Holly, her eldest daughter joined in. Karen’s younger daughter Eva turns 11 this year and so was also going to join in the fun and fundraising. She was especially looking forward to dressing up.
But when Covid-19 stopped St. John`s fundraising events Eva was upset that she wouldn`t be able to do the walk. But one day during lockdown the family were chatting and had the great idea to do the Moonlight Walk anyway – at home around their own road!
After doing the maths, they have worked out that we will have to do 45 laps of their road in order to complete the 14km that they would have walked with the hundreds of other ladies on the night.
So the Moonlight Walk is back on for Karen, Holly and Eva! They plan to walk on Saturday the 13th of June starting at 9pm just like they would have from the hospice. They have told their neighbours to who live on their route so they understand why there will be 3 crazy ladies walking round and round dressed in PJs and fairy wings.
Karen has set up a fundraising page on Facebook which is doing well – You can visit them here and donate.
St. John`s Hospice is a very special place for their family and friends. They hope raise a bit of money to help by doing their own Moonlight Walk so that St John’s Hospice can continue to provide care, compassion and support in the community.
Please sponsor this terrific trio or if you’re feeling inspired do your own Moonlight Walk – set up a fundraiser on Facebook!
