We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful supporters who think of raising money for us when they undertake all manner of events and challenges. Very often we don’t get to hear about many of them until a cheque or some money is handed in or posted to us. It is so lovely to receive a letter with a donation showing appreciation for the care that our little hospice provides to so many people in our community.
One such letter is copied below. We received this from Lynnette Leck and she has given us permission to share it…
This is a little adventure that 9 people took on 8th July 2017 from 10pm to 5:30am the following morning.
All 9 of us set off by sunset to climb the Fairfield Horse Shoe, which includes 8 Lake District peaks just under 3,000 feet high. The top was in sight when the weather turned into thick cloud with visibility reduced to just a few feet. Although the team became a little fearful, my Mum and I sang a few songs and that relaxed the team and spurred them on through the clouds.
Through the cloud and poor visibility, we reached the end of our journey at 5:30am. The group raised money for several different charities but my Mum and I chose St John’s Hospice, our local charity which is close to our hearts. We raised £300.
Please accept this donation for the amazing work you do helping the people you care for at the most difficult time in their loves.
Love from Lynette & Yvonne Leck
