Living with a life shortening condition can be really challenging, not just for patients but their families too. Thanks to Lottery Funding St. John’s hospice is about to start a Positive Living Group to support patients living in South Cumbria.
The group will help patients improve their quality of life by sharing useful information and increasing awareness and understanding of the services and support available within the community. There will also be opportunity to speak to and learn from experienced guest speakers and health professionals. Topics to be covered include how to manage stress and anxiety, lifestyle changes as well as exercise and nutrition tips. There will also be opportunity to meet people facing similar challenges in a supportive environment.
The next group will start on 30th October at Kendal Leisure Centre and run each Tuesday for 6 weeks. There are still spaces available for patients and their carers – so please ask your Health Care Professional, e.g. your GP or District Nurse, to refer you for the group as soon as possible if you think we can help.
