Housekeeping Assistant

St. John’s Hospice is looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to work 21 hours a week.

Hours:                         21 per week
Contract:                  Permanent
Pay:                              £8,779 – £9,052 per annum (depending upon pension scheme)
Shift pattern:          Week 1: 4×6 hour shifts; Week 2: 3×6 hour shifts. 7 day rota including bank holidays
Pension scheme:  8% employer contribution (*NHS Pension Scheme available subject to eligibility)
Closing date:          31st December 2018

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure that all “hotel” services such as inpatient and day hospice rooms, bathrooms, toilets and all the related facilities for patient, families and visitors are clean, tidy and in good order. In addition, to ensure that all other hospice facilities are kept clean and to our high standard to meet CQC and infection control standards.

Some of your duties will be:-

  • Cleaning of wards, bathrooms, toilets, offices, corridors, day rooms, meeting rooms and all ancillary rooms to meet infection prevention and control standards.
  • Other cleaning schedules to be met as required, such as the Chapel and garden rooms, also periodical cleaning such as carpet shampooing, upholstery, hoists, internal windows, steam cleaning, tiles and high dusting.
  • Floor care such as scrubbing and mopping floors as required.
  • Deep clean rooms and bathrooms and soft furnishings as required for the purposes of infection control, according to patient need.
  • Work in our fully equipped laundry to ensure all linen used by hospice patients is fit for purpose and stocks of clean linen meet requirements.
