On the 17th June we had a very exciting sale of a rare and historically interesting item at our St John’s Hospice eBay shop. Initially unbeknown to us, we had been donated a very rare example of an early Art Deco vase by Church Gresley Pottery, T.G. Green & Co. Ltd. Upon listing this item on a 7-day auction, collectors were quick to spot this unusual piece, including the Archivist and Historian for T.G. Green & Co.
The final bidding price ended up on an impressive £69.05. Thankfully, the piece was won by the Archivist, and the vase was able to be sent back to its rightful home at the Church Gresley village in South Derbyshire were it will be archived and appreciated at their museum.
Of course, none of this would be possibly at all without the generosity of our public donations and the canny volunteers who were able to spot this piece and send it our way to sell on online auction. A big shout out and thank you goes to you all that helped make this.
