THE GREAT NORTH RUN… WE HAVE CHARITY PLACES AVAILABLE FOR THE MOST FAMOUS HALF MARATHON IN THE WORLD!
For the first time ever we have managed to secure some places in the Great North Run. This year also marks our 30th anniversary and we are inviting people to apply for one of our charity places.
The 2016 Great North Run will see 57,000 runners travel the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, passing over the iconic Tyne Bridge. This is often said to be the greatest half marathon in the world with an amazing atmosphere too! So what are you doing on 11th September 2016?
Would you like to make a difference in our 30th Year and set yourself a challenge at the same time? During that time the doors to St John’s have never closed – day or night. We have provided hands-on nursing care for local people facing the most challenging time of their lives, we have supported their families and friends and we have walked alongside them during their bereavement journey for as long as they have needed us. However, we could not have done it without the amazing support from the community. We still receive only one third of our funding from statutory sources so we still rely on people to help us to provide support, care and hope for people in our community when they need it most; and remember we are a truly LOCAL charity, every penny raised here, is spent here.
So what do I do next? Simply download an application form. Fill it in and return to Karen Crossley by 21st March 2016*

Registration Fee – we ask that you pay just £35
Minimum Sponsorship – We ask that you raise a minimum of £300, which is enough to pay for twelve hours of nursing care.
