We are so pleased to be able to say that our recent work in getting the Facebook donate button working on our page has resulted in over £10,000 being raised in just the first 6 months.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the donate button allows Facebook users to set up their own fundraisers and select their nominated charities. Since submitting our application to become a nominated charity in September, 647 people have donated to us via Facebook. Facebook charge no fees so all of this money coming in is going directly towards the care of people in our community.
It is really easy to set up a fundraiser if you have a Facebook account. By far the most popular campaign is the Birthday Fundraiser, and if your birthday is coming up and you like our page you should receive a notification asking if you would like to set up a Birthday Fundraiser. This will then let your friends and family donate in your name to the hospice and you can share your fundraiser page to all of your friends.
It doesn’t have to be birthdays though, people have set up Facebook fundraisers for Sober October or Dry January, around National Cancer Awareness day, in memory of a loved ones birthday or funeral or simply because they care about our mission. You can set up a fundraiser at any time by following this link. www.facebook.com/fund/sjhospice
Thank you so much to those 647 people who have already chosen to donate to us this way, we hope many more of our 12,000 followers can join in too.
