Jingle Bell Jog

A great family fun run in the Christmas Spirit! Run 2km or 4km around The Glebe in Windermere… Christmas outfits essential!!!

This is a really fun community event being run by the Windermere and Ambleside Lions Club in association with Sight Advice South Lakes. We are supporting the event and once you have entered you can choose to raise sponsor money for any charity you choose. Of course, we would love you all to choose us. Every penny raised from the Jingle Bell Jog in the name of St John’s Hospice will be directly allocated to our Hospice Angels campaign being run in association with The Westmorland Gazette, aiming to raise £30,000 to fund a Hospice at Home nurse in our South Lakes community.

Event details

Let’s paint the town red, green and white and kick off the festive season by getting the whole family dressed up as Santa’s, Elves, Reindeer, Christmas Puddings, Snowmen, Fairies – or anything Christmassy – and Stumble, Walk, Jog or Run around a flat and scenic course in Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere! It’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit and a fun event for all the family to enjoy, and to raise money for worthwhile local charities.

This event is open to all ages and abilities and you can run, jog, walk, jingle, push prams, or wheel wheelchairs. The course is a flat and wheelchair / pram – friendly 2km loop starting and ending at the beautiful Cockshott Point – a peninsular overlooking Lake Windermere.

Entrants can choose on the day whether they complete 1 or 2 laps, and the entry price is based on entrant age rather than the distance covered.

Christmas outfits are essential – and Santa Suits can optionally be purchased via our online entry system. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed and ALL entrants will receive a festive medal for finishing!

Festive entertainment will be provided before, during and after the race by our resident DJs and Windermere & Bowness Community Choir – and mince pies and mulled wine will be served from our catering vans – to get us all in the Christmas spirit!

The event it will take place on Sunday 4th December 2016 – already a festive weekend in Windermere with the Christmas lights being switched on by Santa the day before.

Entry Prices

  • Ages 0 – 4 and pets: No charge – must be accompanied by a paying Adult
  • Junior Entry (Ages 5 – 12): £5 must be accompanied by a paying Adult
  • Adult Entry (Ages 13+): £10
  • Family Entry: (2 x Adults & 2 x Junior): £25
  • Optional Santa Suit Purchase: £5

Note: Entry price is dependent on age – not distance – you can choose the distance you complete on the day

There are a limited number of Santa Suits available for purchase along with your ticket – Santa Suits are available on a first come first served basis and can be collected before the event. But we encourage participants to dress up as any Christmas character to take part in this family fun event.

All participants will receive a medal for taking part and we would love you to decorate your pram, wheelchair and even the dog!

Registration opens at 10am, the race starts at 11am.
